The State of Star Wars Unlimited Card Investing in 2026
Star Wars Unlimited launched in 2024 as maybe the most hyped new TCG in years. Two years on, the data tells a soberer story. Across 23 mature sets, the broad market has cooled and the typical set is flat, even as a few premium sets keep climbing. Here is what the SWU market is actually doing in mid-2026. Original data from TCGIndex, as of 10 July 2026.
1. The hype has cooled, and the data shows it
Of the 23 SWU sets old enough to judge, only 11 rose over the last 90 days, fewer than half. The typical (median) set is slightly negative. This is the one young market in our coverage where broad buying has not paid: the enormous 2024 launch hype drew in supply, and as printing caught up the market softened. It is not collapse, it is a cooling, and it is exactly what the data is built to show without the narrative.
2. The strength is narrow, and premium
Where SWU is working, it is working in specific premium and recent sets, not across the board:
| Set | Year | 90-day change | Tracked value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Secrets of Power | 2025 | +51.0% | $8,748 |
| A Lawless Time | 2026 | +38.3% | $6,698 |
| Sector and Regional Promos: Season 1 | 2025 | +21.7% | $3,632 |
| Legends of the Force | 2025 | +17.4% | $7,890 |
Secrets of Power up 51% and A Lawless Time up 38% show there is real demand for the right sets. But these are the exceptions in a catalog where most sets are flat or down. The average SWU set is not the story; the specific set is.
3. What it means if you are putting money in
- Do not buy the launch narrative, buy the data. A huge IP does not guarantee a rising market. Here, fewer than half of sets are up, so broad exposure has been a poor bet.
- Be selective and premium. The winners are specific recent and premium sets. If you are in SWU, that is where the evidence points, not the broad catalog.
- Respect a cooling young market. Supply is still expanding and reprints are a risk. Set-level tracking is how you find the pockets that are genuinely working while the rest drifts.
