The State of Gundam Card Game Investing in 2026

The Gundam Card Game launched in 2025 as one of the hottest new markets we track. A quarter on, its universal launch rally has cooled to a selective one. Across its full tracked catalog, some sets are still surging while much of the rest has gone flat, which is exactly when investors most need to separate momentum from durable value. Here is what the Gundam market is actually doing in 2026. Original data from TCGIndex, as of 4 August 2026.

1. The launch rally has cooled to selective

A quarter ago every mature Gundam set was rising. Not anymore: about 59% of the 17 mature sets rose over the last 90 days, and the typical (median) set is up just under +3%. The average is a healthier +24%, but that gap is the story: a couple of standouts are pulling the mean up while much of the catalog has flattened. This is the natural second act of a hot launch, when the universal breadth narrows and the market starts sorting winners from the rest.

2. The debut booster still anchors the market

Rank Gundam sets by tracked value and one set towers over the rest:

SetYear90-day changeTracked value
Edition Beta (debut booster)2025+11.0%$53,715
Gundam Promotional Cards2025+96.4%$14,597
Newtype Rising2025+35.5%$7,651
Phantom Aria2026+2.4%$5,983
Dual Impact2025+10.2%$4,284

Edition Beta, the debut booster, holds ~$53,700, more than half the entire tracked market. Its own pace has cooled to +11% as the launch settles, but it remains the anchor. The standout mover now is the Gundam Promotional Cards, up 96.4%, with Newtype Rising up 35.5%, while newer sets like Phantom Aria have gone nearly flat. The blue chip is holding; the froth is fading.

3. What it means if you are putting money in

  • The universal rally was a stage, and it has passed. Total breadth is normal at launch and it is also what precedes the first sorting. Gundam is now in that sorting phase, so pick, do not sweep.
  • The debut set is the blue chip here. Edition Beta anchors the market because it is the scarcest and most sought first print, and it is holding its value while newer sets cool. In young games, the debut set is usually the most durable bet.
  • Reprints and youth are the risk. Bandai reprints staples, and a game this young has no track record through a downturn. Set-level tracking is how you catch the moment momentum turns, which is exactly what it is built for.
