The best Disney Lorcana cards to invest in right now
Lorcana arrived with Disney behind it and sold out instantly, and the early chapters became a lesson in both directions. Prices spiked on the shortage, then Ravensburger reprinted hard to get product onto shelves and a lot of that early froth came back out. The Disney IP is the bull case, because the chase cards pull collectors who would never touch another card game. The reprint engine is the bear case. The way through is to focus on enchanted rares of beloved characters and genuinely scarce printings, not ordinary cards. Here is how we look at it, and what our model is flagging this week.
What makes a Lorcana card worth holding
With an IP this strong, the whole game is demand versus reprintability:
- Enchanted rares. The low-pull full-art chase cards are the heart of the market. An enchanted of an iconic character has both deep demand and scarce supply.
- Beloved Disney characters. The cards that hold are the ones people want for the character, not just the card game. That demand renews itself in a way play-staples cannot.
- Genuinely scarce printings. Early first-run cards and promos that were not reprinted at scale keep a supply edge. A card from a heavily reprinted chapter does not.
- Early momentum, not the spike. A card already up triple digits on hype is someone else's exit. The move worth catching is the quieter climb once the reprint waves have passed.
What our model is flagging right now
TCGIndex watches the whole Lorcana market every day and surfaces the cards behaving unusually: unexpected momentum, breakouts, relative under-pricing against comparable cards. These are the names on the radar this week.

The cards everyone already chases
For the expensive end of the shelf, here are the most valuable Lorcana cards on the market right now:
- D23 Expo Promo Set - 2022 around $10,000
- Buzz Lightyear - Jungle Ranger (Iconic) around $2,874
- Mickey Mouse - Brave Little Prince (Iconic) around $2,026
- Elsa - Ice Maker (Foil) around $2,000
- Invited to the Ball around $1,470
- Elsa - Snow Queen around $1,250
These are expensive because the community already agrees they matter. The entry price is steep and the easy money is gone, but they also carry the deepest, most reliable demand in the game. The full list lives on the most valuable Lorcana cards page.
The reprint trap, and how to not get caught
Lorcana's own history is the warning. Here is what burns people:
- Buying a launch shortage. An early sell-out is often a supply problem, not a scarcity one. Ravensburger reprints to fix it, and the premium evaporates.
- Buying standard over enchanted. If you want the asset, you almost always want the enchanted rare, not the regular version of the same character.
- Chasing the spike. A card that already tripled has priced in the hype. The crowd is usually the exit.
- Grading, fees and liquidity. Price condition, grading and your real exit before treating a card as an investment. Paper value is not cash.
