Delta Reign preorders are cooling. Here is what the last three Mega sets did next
By TCGIndex ·
Delta Reign's Pokemon Center ETB preorder is down 18% in 30 days, and the last three Mega Evolution sets kept losing value months after release. The numbers, read on October 13, 2026.
Delta Reign (ME06) lands on November 6. Before a single card has been revealed on the secondary market, its sealed preorders already have a price history, and it is pointing down. The three Mega Evolution sets before it tell you what usually happens next.
All numbers below were read from TCGIndex set pages on October 13, 2026, in USD, Near Mint.
Preorders are cooling, fast
Three Delta Reign products already trade as preorders:
| Product | Price today | 30 days |
|---|---|---|
| Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box (Exclusive) | $457.21 | -18.2% |
| Elite Trainer Box | $122.26 | -8.6% |
| Build & Battle Box | $71.27 | -5.0% |
That is not a crash, it is the normal air coming out of a hype price. Preorder prices are set by people who are afraid of missing out, and they drift down as print runs, store allocations and the first pulls become known.
What the last three Mega sets cost now
Here is the same shelf for the three sets that came out before Delta Reign, months after release:
| Set | Released | ETB today | PC ETB today | Build & Battle today |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pitch Black (ME05) | July 17, 2026 | $78.30 | $118.57 | $37.97 |
| Chaos Rising (ME04) | May 22, 2026 | $70.23 | $128.26 | $43.22 |
| Perfect Order (ME03) | March 27, 2026 | $73.37 | $124.01 | $37.65 |
The regular Delta Reign ETB is priced at about 1.6 times what an ETB from any of those three sets costs today. The Pokemon Center exclusive is at 3.6 to 3.9 times. Those older boxes are also flat now: every one of the nine products in that table moved less than 7% in the last 30 days. Once a Mega set is a few months old, its sealed product stops falling and just sits.
The exception is the start of the block. Phantasmal Flames (November 2025) has a regular ETB at $148.94 and a Pokemon Center ETB at $285.87, and the original Mega Evolution ETBs still sit between $120 and $128. Those are the sets with Mega Charizard X and the first wave of the mechanic, and their value is concentrated in that kind of card: Mega Charizard X ex 125/094 alone trades at $633.47.
The singles tell the same story
Set value is the sum of every single in the set. For the two most recent sets that have had a full three months to settle:
- Chaos Rising: $482 today, down 21.5% over 30 days and 39.0% over 90 days. Mega Greninja ex holds the top two spots at about $130 each.
- Perfect Order: $467 today, down 21.1% over 30 days and 34.0% over 90 days. Mega Zygarde ex 124/088 leads at $115.65.
Pitch Black is younger and its total is noisy right now because its card list is still filling in, so look at the cards instead: all ten of its most expensive cards are down over 30 days, from -4.1% (Mega Darkrai ex 120/084 at $142.90) to -22.0% (Mega Zeraora ex 114/084 at $36.94). The same is true of the top ten in Chaos Rising and in Perfect Order. Not one of those thirty listings went up in the last month.
Concentration is the other thing to know. Our set pages rate those three sets 67% to 73% concentrated: most of the value sits in a handful of cards. Open a box of a modern Mega set and most of what you pull is worth very little; the set's value lives in two or three Mega Hyper Rares and Special Illustration Rares.
So what does this mean for Delta Reign?
We do not tell anyone what to buy. Here is the read from the data, for two kinds of people.
If you play. The pattern for the last three sets is clear: their singles were still losing value months after release, a third or more over the last 90 days for the two older ones. If you need a playset of a new card for your deck and can wait, history says patience is cheaper, unless that card turns out to be a format staple that everyone needs at once.
If you collect sealed. The Delta Reign ETB preorder sits well above where its three predecessors trade today, and the Pokemon Center version far above. Past sets went from launch price to a flat plateau, not to a climb. The block's winners so far (Mega Evolution and Phantasmal Flames) are the ones whose chase cards became icons. Whether Delta Reign has that kind of card is the only question that matters for its sealed price, and nobody knows the answer before the reveals.
If you just want the chase card. Wait for the first two weeks of real sales. On release weekend the first copies sell to the most impatient buyers, and the three sets above show what happens after.
What we will publish next
We will update this at release and again one week after (November 13), with the first real prices for every Delta Reign card, how the set's value compares with Pitch Black, Chaos Rising and Perfect Order at the same age, and which cards carry it. The Delta Reign set page already shows the preorder prices and will list every card with its price as soon as it trades.
